I earned my Ph.D in Software Engineering from North Dakota State University in 2006 and am currently a Professor of Cyber Operations and the Director of the Cyber Classified Operations Lab at Dakota State University in Madison, SD.  I teach undergraduate and graduate cyber-security courses and conduct funded research for the National Science Foundation and the National Security Agency. My university appointment encourages consulting to stay current and relevant in the domain, thus I founded The Dohmen Group, LLC in 2015 for my off-campus activities. I've been active in cyber security consulting since 2007.

I've done substantial work in the financial services sector, including over 200 network and web applications penetration tests since 2010. I'm on the faculty of the University of Wisconsin Graduate School of Banking where I've provided training and educational workshops to over 700 bank IT personnel since 2011 in current threat and risk landscape, vendor assessment, and vulnerability management. I've also worked with several banking associations across the nation. In the past 2-3 years I've provided cyber security advisory services to publicly-traded companies in the telecommunications and energy sectors.
